What Does Comfort Food Mean to You?
What is your ultimate comfort food? The kind of food that you crave when you’re feeling down. The kind of food you crave when it’s kind of gray and sluggish outside. Does your comfort food differ depending on the situation? The weather? The season? Does it mean something different to you? Please share with us!
For me, my comfort food really depends on how I’m feeling and the season. In the summer, when I’m sad, I might pick up some cookie dough ice cream (my favorite!) to cheer me up. Or when I’m happy. There’s never a bad time for cookie dough ice cream! I may also gravitate toward family recipes when I feel lonely or when I miss my family.
Or I might want to make soup on rainy days or on a chilly fall day. Speaking of soup, last week I was in the middle of studying for exams with a friend and I told her that I was craving soup with bread and butter. She laughed at first because it’s currently spring and it was sunny outside. When we talked about it more she brought up a good point. I was probably craving soup because I was looking for comfort during the stressful exam period. Even though it might not have been the ideal season or the ‘right’ weather to crave soup, I craved the comfort that soup brings me.
